AP report from Ellicott City states a White House Secret Service officer will face no charges over a 3 year old son's gunshot injury. The 33 year old father Kenneth Bouley was charged with access to firearms by minors but prosecutors say proving the father knew a child would access the weapon is too high a standard. California Supreme Court blocks gunmaker liability in mass shooting case
In a 5 1 ruling the California Supreme Court barred survivors from suing gunmaker Navegar Inc over the 1993 San Francisco skyscraper massacre. The court held state product liability rules do not permit such lawsuits, despite arguments that Navegar marketed the TEC DC9 to criminals and should have foreseen misuse. Justice Ming W Chin noted the tragedy but affirmed the public policy against blame on manufacturers. Justice Kathryn Mickle Werdegar dissented, urging a trial on negligence in marketing the weapon.
