A 53-year-old Thurmont resident Jane Marie Kauffman died hours after being pulled from her burning Blue Mountain Road home. Fire officials believe the blaze started in the bedroom. she suffered burns over 80 percent of her body and died at Frederick Memorial Hospital. The death is the county's first fire fatality this year.
