County Officials Question Antipoverty Head Salary

County officials back the Frederick Community Action Committee on hiring a poverty program administrator but object to a 10500 annual salary funded 90 percent by the federal government for two years. After that period the county would pay 60 percent and the federal government 40 percent. Officials warn the administrator would be appointed by the committee and serve a six month probation, with reappointment possible at changing federal terms. Some say the job is unnecessary given limited local poverty and that the program will not instantly solve social issues.
