Balloons on the Long Flight From New York to Brant Rock

Dr. Julian P. Thomas and Roy Knabenshue completed a 12 hour flight covering about 125 miles from New York to Brant Rock with a stop at Noank Conn. using a guide rope and water anchor. The mission tested new aerial devices while landing safely and sharing enthusiasm for advances in balloon navigation.

Chicago Bank Wrecked Deficit Reported At One Million

Triple Lynchings Shock Salisbury Mob Violence in North Carolina

A mob overran the Rowan County jail in Salisbury and lynched three Black men, Nease Gillespie and Jack Dillingham, and John Gillespie, after forced confessions refused. Militia and local officials struggled as a crowd of about 2000 gathered. prisoners were taken toward Spencer and hanged at a tree after midnight.

Philadelphia Manufactures Report of 1904 Industry

Census Bureau publishes a Philadelphia manufacturing report for 1904 showing a 6 percent drop in establishments to 7087 from 7503 in 1900, but increases in capital salaries wage totals and product value. Six main industries listed include carpets leather printing and woolens. Also reports two fatalities in a Panhandle wreck near Pittsburg and three drowning incidents linked to boating and learning to swim.
