Six Die In Huge Fire At Distillery
PEKIN Aug. 5 Firemen fought to control a two dray whisky-fed distillery blaze that killed six people and caused millions in losses. Twenty three injured. four buildings destroyed as explosions and heat hampered efforts. Distillery on G1-acie grounds of American Distilling Co. lost 000 to 110,000 barrels of whisky. Fire began after lightning struck a rackhouse and spread through several buildings.

In Charlottesville Virginia a bride of four weeks, Mrs Clarice May Woodson aged 39, shot her husband Maurice L Woodson 36 as he slept and then wounded herself. Police report she feared she had cancer and was despondent. Officer J B Quick investigated the incident.

Woman shoots self after death note found
A caller heard shots from two doors down at the Woodson house and saw Mrs Woodson collapse in the yard. Quick wrested the gun from her grasp before she could turn it on herself. She had prepared a note saying she knew she was dying of cancer and could not leave Maurice behind. Police said she believed she was ill, but no doctor’s opinion had been issued. Charges await police investigation completion.

Former Cashier Found In A Funeral Home
Baltimore police announced the abated by death warrant case of Carl A. Kline, 47, the ex cashier of the State Department of Motor Vehicles who embezzled 4800 dollars and vanished last September. Jailed After Auto Wreck Near Square
A Baltimore man was jailed on three charges after a late Thursday collision at the Square. William E. Sponseller of 634 Grant Place was arrested for driving under the influence, reckless driving, and running a red light. Paul M. Brown, listed as from 3910 Maine Avenue Baltimore, was transported by ambulance to the hospital with injuries. two sedans were damaged, and about $1,000 in damage was reported.
