White House rejects Camp David guest list request
The Frederick News-Post seeks Camp David guest lists from 1996 to present but is refused. Officials say the White House staff and executive offices are not subject to FOIA and that lists resemble private home visitors. Marines deny having any guest lists and say only the White House could have them. Republican Rep. Roscoe Bartlett notes sensitive diplomacy could be harmed if such lists were public.

County approves seven year dumping fee under new contract
Frederick County Commissioners voted to offer a seven year reduced dumping rate to municipalities and commercial haulers who use the county landfill. The rate drops to 40 per ton for five years and 41 per ton for the last two, with current rate 45. Municipalities excluding Brunswick and Myersville sign on, while Frederick City delayed but agreed. Public Works Director says limits ensure county waste only. Revenue funds recycling contract to be awarded August 13. The board also approves a 5 per ton refund to municipalities for landfill dumping since July 1.
