Frederick airport beacon dispute prompts protest from mayor and senator
Mayor Culler and the Frederick Chamber of Commerce joined United States Senator Millard E. Tydings in protesting the Department of Commerce plan to discontinue government operation of beacon and boundary lights at Frederick airport. A telegram to Air Commerce officials urged reconsideration and a follow up letter from the Chamber president sought a revival of the field as an emergency or commercial site. The issue centers on relocating the Washington to Frederick air route which would place Frederick off route and possibly shutter the field leased to the federal government.
