In a Jersey inlet on July 16 a funnel of sea foam danced across the surface as violent water spouted upward and chased objects, creating a dramatic water event noted by observers along Great Bay. The report blends natural oddities with local notes and events.
In Charlextows West Virginia on August 4 a wild cat weighing about twenty two pounds fought three bulldogs for four hundred dollars. The cat slipped aside and mounted a dog’s back, disabled it and tore a leg free. The dog died after eleven minutes of fighting. A second dog entered after seven minutes and was later killed. The cat dominated the bout through a furious fifteen minute clash.
