Dairymen advised on postharvest weed control and leafhopper plan
After rains weeds surge in alfalfa stands and a registered herbicide for annual weeds is discussed. Apply 1 pint Paraquat per acre right after cutting if no rain delays. If regrowth occurs before harvest avoid Paraquat as it can weaken stands. Consider delaying leafhopper insecticide until regrowth resumes, with dimethoate as a common option. The potential use of Trithion remains uncertain.
