German Miners Believed Dead in Ruhr Mine Fire
In Gelsenkirchen Germany forty one miners were believed dead after a fire and explosion at the Dalbusch workings. Forty four others were injured and several seriously. Fire halted rescues with 25 workers still missing below ground presumed dead. Seventeen bodies were recovered before the fire forced a retreat.
