Allies Take Gallipoli Ridge in Bayonet Rush

London August 4 The official report from Sir Ian Hamilton says Allied forces won the crest of a ridge on Gallipoli after heavy bombardment and three mines. A Turkish section was rushed with bayonets. Turks did not counter attack and about seventy bodies were counted.

Petrograd reports that a large German transport was sunk by a British submarine in Baltic waters. In Ocean City New Jersey the post office safe was blown open at Oceanview with stamps valued at a loss.

In Wilmington Delaware on August 4 50 year old Jennie Hf Stanton was found dead in her South Milford home under peculiar circumstances. Her blind son was helpless in another room while a caller found her, and investigators scrambled to determine the cause of death.
