Cornerstone Laying at City Hospital Tribute by Dorsey Etchison
A ceremony marked the cornerstone laying for additions to the City Hospital including a Nurses' Home memorial to Dr. Thomas S. Johnson. Masons led the event with a corn wine and oil ritual, speeches by Emory L. Coblentz and H Dorsey Etchison praising founders, donors Mr. and Mrs. Bake and Mr. and Mrs. Shank, and community leaders. The event drew a large crowd including hospital staff and officials, with plans for a new central heating plant and expanded facilities.
