Nixon Backers See Doubts As Convention Nears
Nixon backers face shifting support as Rockefeller presses for the 1960s style platform hearings in Miami Beach. Uncommitted delegates weigh the prospects of Nixon versus Rockefeller and Reagan with talks of Lindsay as a possible dark horse. Ford notes no Nixon lock. Dirksen seeks a neutral platform. Newsweek cites Reagan gains and shifts toward Rockefeller and possible favorite sons.

U.S. officers praise the mobile guerrilla approach while fearing its nerve racking, elusive nature as troops, mines, and hidden caches complicate attempts to trap or defeat the enemy before a major offensive.
