Dr Barnette addresses Lions on communism and Khrushchev
Dr H H Barnette spoke Thursday at the Francis Scott Key Hotel to the Lions Club of Frederick. Victor Cullen To Remain As TB Center
Victor Cullen State Hospital will stay open as a tuberculosis treatment center at least for now as the Maryland Board of Public Works deferred closure plans. Health officials had proposed phasing out by Jan 1 1965 citing declining TB rates and converting the Sabillasville facility into a training school for older boys. The board heard questions from legislators and kept the 1961 bond authorization alive with a May action to fund major repairs to an annex, but no transfer decision was made. Disturbing news from Germany followed as about 100 West German tourists witnessed an East German border incident with a shooting reportedly seen by the group.
