Baltimore and Ohio ends exchange offer on debentures
The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad announced it will stop exchanging fixed income debentures for income bonds effective Aug. 12. The exchange began March 27 1956 to restore fixed interest status for income bondholders. About 337 million of the income bonds have been exchanged. 23.5 million debentures remain outstanding. Also, Dr. Theodore E Sterne predicts the first Earth satellite may stay aloft for nine years.
