Court House Offices To Be Shifted
The Frederick County Treasurer's office will move later this year to the Court House quarters now used by the Clerk of the Circuit Court after the Clerk and staff relocate to new offices in the old first floor court room. The shift hinges on shelving and cases for land and equity records arriving, with the assessment books moved to a small public room in the Clerk's office. The move will free space, with the commissioners planning a moderate renovation and converting the treasurer's current room into a conference area. The commission also disclosed plans to buy mechanized tax billing equipment for the treasurer, costing under 14000 dollars, to replace hand operations and reduce costs. City Register Louis E. Eichelberger praised the potential savings and efficiency. The county is said to handle about three million dollars in business annually. The commission awarded 15 miles of the Wiles road to Richard F. Kline for 37309 dollars, with work to start soon. The next monthly night meeting is set for 8 p.m. at the Court House.
