Teen wins grand baked goods prize at Carroll County fair
Shelly Yingling, 19, earned grand champion in baked goods for Old World Raspberry Bars at the Carroll County 4 H and FFA Fair. The Deep Run 4 H member, retiring from 4 H this year, sold the winning entry for 1900 dollars to Jimmy Uhler of Uhler's Equipment. Proceeds go to the Kimberly Baile Memorial Scholarship fund.

About 17 members of Thurmont's Catoctin Canaries will perform at a 2 NAMT reception after a Senate hearing on music and aging. The Special Committee on Aging holds a 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. hearing in the Hart Building room 216, with the public invited to a 5 to 7 p.m. reception.
