One Room Hampton School Remembers Its Old Days
The Urbana area recalls Hampton School once serving grades one through seven. Former students aged 76 to 87 share memories of the brick building on Park Mills Road, heating with a black stove, shared desks, chalk on ink stained clothes, and a string of chores before class. They note school began at 9 and ended at 4, with a 1925 era and a later renovation turning the site into a home.
