The guide by Rob Gilford lists safety steps for fishing including going with an adult, checking weather, seeking shelter if stormy, obtaining permission for private areas, avoiding foul water, wearing protective eyewear and hats, fishing from the bank, watching for others while casting, not removing embedded hooks yourself, researching local fish, carrying needle-nose pliers, not repairing jammed reels, using a sharp knife safely, practicing casting in a backyard, and learning area regulations with licenses.
