A 71 year old Frederick man lit a candle at Beth Sholom Synagogue for the 11 million people who died in Nazi camps. Max Krinitz recalled four decades of nightmares from a Soviet labor camp and spoke alongside survivors and relatives including Congressman Michael Barnes. The event, “The Holocaust: Expressions of Survival,” drew about 75 attendees and emphasized remembering atrocities to prevent repetition. Krinitz described loss of family and weight from his camp years. Others reflected that hatred persists in various countries today and warned against indifference that allowed Nazi crimes.
