Frederick County 4H Beef Sheep and Swine Club heard rural crime prevention tips from Deputy Sheriff Marvin Steiding. He urged identification of personal property and introduced programs by engraving and livestock freeze branding. Also announced two child programs by Carroll Manor Grange for May 2 and Johnson grass control assistance from Glenn Pearl with contact numbers.
Members and guests of the Maryland State Grange GROW Club gathered in Thurmont for the second annual banquet. Speakers Mr and Mrs Dick Gallimore of Gettysburg, visiting national Grange youth team members, shared performances and messages on growth, humor, listening, and friendship. The program, directed by Janet Wiles, featured invocations by State Royalty and welcomed attendees with gratitude from National Grange Prince David Wiles and toastmaster Tom Galbreath of Hartford County.

Extension agents note the program builds responsibility, knowledge, and skill, with a participation fee of $468.60 for more details.
Melvin L Wilkins of Frederick has been named a district winner in the International Harvester Sales Stars program. His 1981 total sales qualify him to compete for regional honors later, representing HB Duvalline Frederick for over 22 years in a nationwide dealer recognition effort.
