Tawes to Sign Maryland Liquor Bill for Hotel Licensing
Governor Tawes is set to sign a state wide liquor bill that would allow the Francis Scott Key Hotel to obtain an on premise license. The bill requires a three story building with at least 100 rooms and dining facilities for 125, plus a half million dollar capital investment and $2,000 annual license fees. Licenses would be issued by the county clerk with approval from the boards of license commissioners, effective June 1.

County Woman Dies After Self Inflicted Bullet Wound
A 40 year old Feagaville woman identified as Mrs. Lester Irving Flohr died at Frederick Memorial Hospital after shooting herself in the forehead with a 22 rifle. State Police said the incident occurred about 3:30 this morning at the Flohr home and she died around 9:30. The family said she had been nervous and under a doctor's care.

Million Dollar Contract Awarded To Kline Firm
The State Roads Commission awarded Richard F. Kline Inc of Frederick a million dollar contract for relocating Maryland Route 31 in Carroll county from Manchester to Westminster. The 3.82 mile project will form part of a future dual highway and connects with four and a half miles from Manchester to near Cranberry.
