Overcoming Test Anxiety in a High School Junior
A parent writes about a daughter whose high scores predict top performance yet whose grades lag due to test anxiety. The advice focuses on recognizing anxiety as a subconscious defense, practicing directions and retention, reviewing tests beforehand, answering easy questions first, and using positive association techniques, with optional psychotherapy and self hypnosis as avenues if needed. Advice also notes that adults can suffer from test anxiety and suggests reading directions carefully and building confidence through practiced exercises.
