Edison’s missteps highlighted in long term study
Rutgers researchers document Thomas Edison’s commercial flops from cement furniture to a perpetual cigar as part of a two year project. The 34 million pages of papers, 300,000 microfilm pages, and a 2 volume edition aim to reveal the inventor’s human side and overlooked production technology contributions. Sponsored by National Park Service and partners, the work spans 1547 to 1921 with Edison’s labs in West Orange and Meolo Park.
