South Africa Accepts Western Plan for Namibia
CAPE TOWN AP South Africa accepted the Western compromise plan for South-West Africa while SWAPO leader Sam Nujoma remained cool to it. The plan envisions a ceasefire, a constitutional assembly under UN supervision, a UN military civilian force, and withdrawal of most SA troops as Namibia moves toward independence by year end. Nujoma refused to comment on Vorster's announcement, saying SWAPO's stance is known.
