Communications Expert Challenges Central Fire Call System Plan
Isaac L. Hankey, operator of Hankey's Communications Service, disputes the Frederick County Firemen's Association plan saying one base station at Gambrill Park leaves a dead area from Emmitsburg to Blue Ridge Summit and costs are underestimated. He notes a second base station could cost about 12000 dollars and that the plan would fail to cover Thurmont and Emmitsburg without additional infrastructure. He adds the county roads radio system cannot reach the two areas and cites police control of city fire calls as an issue.
