Maryland Delegation Opposes Gross Receipts Tax Push
Frederick county lawmakers in the House of Delegates are believed to oppose a gross receipts tax and a general property tax proposal, with only one member favoring a sales tax if excess funds cut property taxes. The plan from Annapolis may swap a gross receipts tax for an alternate levy such as higher race track betting taxes. Committees prepare relief bills and aim for a quick vote by week’s end amid a no other legislation rule.
