Historic train makes final Rockies run aboard the Zephyr
About 400 rail fans from across the United States rode the Rio Grande Zephyr on its last Denver to Grand Junction run, a two day 1140 mile journey that marked the end of a private long distance passenger service. Amtrak will replace the Zephyr with its own equipment and continues service on a temporary Wyoming route until May 15 after a mudslide severed the line.
