Municipal costs rise with city size in Census study
A Census Bureau study shows larger cities require more municipal workers and pay higher wages. In areas under 5,000 residents 50 employees per 10,000 people are needed, vs 104 per 10,000 in cities over a million. The trend reflects higher living costs and diminishing returns on tax dollars.
