Woman held for grand jury on shooting charge
In a preliminary hearing Magistrate Alton Y Bennett ordered Mrs Catherine G Betson held under $1000 bond pending the September grand jury on a charge of assault with intent to murder her husband Lewis G Betson. Betson testified of a domestic dispute over moving from their residence to an alley shack on Butterfly Lane. A pistol and shells were produced in court. Betson claimed he seized the gun after she threatened him, and he left to obtain a warrant. Police testified Betson was threatened during the visit to their home. The magistrate found sufficient evidence and ordered Betson held for the grand jury. State armory records and witness appearances were noted.
