Senator Lodge furnished with details of water cure killings
Two Lynn men William Labelle and Albert Bertrand told Senator Lodge of alleged water cure abuses in the Philippines. Bertrand cites the disappearance and death of Father Augustine at Bolo after insurgents hid gold, with a U S artillery uniform and torture to extract information. Also described are the burning of huts and a native woman and child dragged from a hut and left on the ground during July 1900 actions by Company YD near Dungas.

Cincinnati April 24 A widow of Dayton and Theodore Cohen of Hopkinsville Ky were wed yesterday by telephone, the first time the couple met in person after a long distance courtship. The ceremony lasted 35 minutes as Rev R D Harding connected the line from a drugstore booth. Charges totaled 25 dollars for the call.

Captain Clarke Declines Naval Appointment in Washington
April 24 report states Captain Charles E Clarke declined the appointment of special naval representative at the cotenation of King Edward. The president named Rear Admiral Watson for that mission. The war office shipped 1006 miles of fence material to South Africa to reinforce block houses barbed wire fences and curb the cattle rushes.
