Nixon Sees War Threat Shrinking Averted Bankruptcy
Vice President Nixon told a Young Republican conference in Tucson that the administration’s middle of the road program reduced the threat of World War II and prevented national bankruptcy. He argued the GOP must be reaffirmed by voters or a swing to the left would occur, criticizing the Democratic party as controlled by a left wing with socialist leanings. The 800 attendees at a $5 dinner rejected his critique as he warned Indochina stakes are now as high as in any global conflict.
