City parks to get meters and islands on South Court
Bids will be sought soon for converting South Court street parking grounds to a meter area with capacity for 130 to 150 cars. Concrete islands will separate parking areas and new walkways will connect spots to South Court. Drainage work may be done by city forces and meter hours remain undecided. Street work continues on Norva avenue extension as part of the 1951 budget with grading and paving near Camp Detrick.

Women Hurt In Cars Crash At College and Carroll Parkway
Two women escaped with minor injuries in a collision at College avenue and Carroll Parkway around 4 p m. Miss Lucille L Snoots 28 of Knoxville and Anna Snoots of the same address were treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital then discharged. The Knoxville driver failed to stop at a stop sign and both sedans were badly damaged. In Peoples Court Miss Snoots forfeited 10 dollars and costs for inadequate brakes passing a stop sign and no registration card. A second collision at North Market street involving William Edward Eddy and Sterling Lenhart Junior caused more than 50 dollars damage to both cars with no charges filed.

A Wolfsville Foxville road store and residence, 29 acres with a two story building and outbuildings, sold for 15000 at the court house sale. Mr. and Mrs. Truman M. 97 Die In Yokohama Railway Fire Tragedy

Niemann A Brank, a local businessman, was elected Monday evening to head the Francis Scott Key District of the Boy Scouts of America. The choice came at the district’s annual meeting after dinner at the Southern Restaurant. Officers will serve July 1, 1951 to June 30, 1952. The district panel includes district vice chairmen Paul G. Johnson and Melvin H. Derr, and numerous district members at large. Bruchey’s position will be terminated as plans for health department changes unfold following talks with the Board of County Commissioners and the Mayor and Aldermen. Dr. Forbes Burgess, appointed to succeed the late Dr. Carroll E. Easterday as deputy state health officer for Frederick city and county, is finishing indoctrination in Washington County and will spend weeks in Baltimore before reporting for full duties in Frederick.
