Koresh Used Gun Parts to Build Firearm Arsenal

Washington AP reports cult leader David Koresh circumvented federal firearms restrictions by buying gun parts from dealers nationwide and assembling them into deadly automatic weapons. Frederick Loses Clinton Stimulus Road Funds

Frederick will not receive the $88 million sought for road and transport projects after President Clinton's stimulus package failed to pass Congress. Mayor Paul Gordon stressed the city would continue pursuing funding through normal channels, with planned projects on Shookstown Road Rosemont Avenue and East and West Patrick Street to create about 260 jobs. The city may use general funds or bonds to finance the work, which dates back years and now awaits funding decisions.

Frederick mayoral bid announced by James Grimes

James Grimes, 53, owner of Grimes Truck Center, announced Friday he will run for mayor of Frederick. He spoke at his Grimes Truck Center office with coworkers and supporters including former Police Chief Charlie V Man and airport commission member Dick Kanade. He cited projects such as extending East Street to 170, Carroll Creek work, and airport enhancements, pledging no tax increase and the creation of new management at his company to allow full‑time mayor duties.

County opposes Cracked Claw off track betting bid

Frederick County Commissioners voted 3-1 to urge the Maryland Racing Commission to deny an off track betting permit for the Cracked Claw Restaurant in Urbana. Doctor Ordered to Undergo Sexual Counseling in Maryland Case

Frederick physician Morris Alexander Wilkinson a 48 year old with a clinic at 700 N Market St was ordered by Frederick County Circuit Court Judge Edward Dwyer Jr to undergo sexual conduct counseling or face 18 months in jail and to complete 200 hours of community service over three years. The court also imposed consecutive suspended sentences based on his prior record and mandated counseling with Dr Dennis J Hilker after a contentious court appearance.

Frederick County Commissioners may impose impact fees starting next month with an ordinance to set 2000 for single family homes 1715 for townhouses 565 for condominiums and 515 for apartments collected at building permit issuance A public hearing and budget review will be held at 7 pm May 4 in Winchester Hall the same day as a proposed 4.3 percent rise in the recordation tax to fund growth.

Delinquent Property Tax Notices Listed for 1992 93 Sale

County treasurer Martha Ann Brittain cautions that the list of delinquent properties for the 1992 93 tax year is down from last year though still includes some sizable commercial debts. The sixteenth day of April shows delinquent accounts, with a May 10 tax sale planned if taxes remain unpaid. bidders will pay the outstanding tax and owners owe 12 percent interest until cleared.
