In a district court in Montgomery County Judge Mary Ann Stepler acquitted 24 year old David A Adkins of destroying a rabbit hound and cruelty to animals after a contentious trial over a hunter s beagle killed on December 2 near Jefferson The farmer argued the dog pack harassed livestock and supported the right to protect property The defendant stated he fired a warning shot and then killed one dog amid ongoing dog and livestock conflicts
