Long Bass Expedition Fails To Best Old Record
The Great American Bass Expedition at Lake Casitas near Ventura runs a month without beating George Perry’s 1932 world record largemouth. Jerry Gibbs and Ray Easley led efforts, catching over 200 bass including two 9-pounders, but Perry’s mark remains intact as Lake Casitas endures heavy fishing pressure. In Missouri at Lake of the Ozarks, the $75,000 Bass Angler Sportsman Society event shows Woody Clapham leading on day one with five bass weighing 23 pounds 6 ounces, followed by Behringer and Kizer in pursuit as top contenders for the three day final. Virginia’s Lake Anna hosts the Poor Boy Open with Ball and Brock winning 13 pounds 9 ounces, while the Bicentennial Bassmasters also fish Lake Anna with Giarth and Riner among top finishers.
