Lights at Mount Airy field judged to limit disruption
Two judges ruled on a dispute over night baseball lights near Twin Ridge Elementary School. Judge Hamp Tisdale ordered 70 foot towers with 1,500 watt floods to shut by 9:30 p.m. except on holidays, and parking to stay five feet from driveways. Neighbors argued lights harmed privacy and traffic. $120,000 had been invested by the league and residents. The decision, amid community lament, left both sides unsatisfied and prompted questions about enforcement and scheduling.
