Gabions A Modern Stream Solution At Creek
The Department of Game and Inland Fish introduces its first two gabions on Hunt ing Creek upstream from Camp Peniel bridge. Modern gabions are steel wire baskets filled with rock and used to build retaining walls and deflecting structures to control erosion. They are porous, flexible, and can bend under strain, requiring less maintenance than older dam or wall methods.
