Less Revenue For Roads In Baltimore State Plans Budget Shifts

Baltimore Maryland officials warn the State Roads Commission will face about 6.39 million dollars less revenue this year than forecast. Federal aid of 6.8 million dollars is expected under emergency highway provisions to offset the loss. Tar purchase slowdowns, wiring tax shortfalls, and two heavy snowstorms reduce 1958 projections by about 1.6 million, while storm costs add 600 thousand and pension shifts move 700 thousand from special funds. The Legislature changed funding sources, altering payment streams. The article also notes a Mt Pleasant United Church of Christ Women’s Guild meeting.
