Poodle Hair Sparks Global Cynology Split
Michael Goldsmith reports from Langenthal Switzerland on a rift in international dog circles led by Fria Ruef, new president of the International Cynological Federation. Disputes over poodle grooming standards and the social register of boxers have split federations, with the federation faction claiming higher status and stricter rules while union members resist. The divide has spread beyond Switzerland, with the United States and Russia noted as less involved, and breed classifications becoming a point of social hierarchy among dogs and their owners.
