Federal agents finishing testimony in the Chakahooer year US LUbenee lym case say Harvey Lee Thomas lied in his defense against charges he sabotaged planes at the Glenn L. Martin plant. Agents recalled after defense then reiterated that Thomas admitted damaging planes to get even with Martina company inspectors he disliked. The case was to go to a jury after closing arguments before Judge William C. Coleman.

British hospital ships Tairea and Talomba arrived in Alexandria with Allied POWs from Italy traded at Smyrna under an Italy accord. About 1,640 British prisoners are exchanged for these men with many arriving in Alexandria identified as South Africans Australians and New Zealanders.

General Douglas MacArthur will continue service in the field after reaching retirement age next January 26. Undersecretary Patterson told reporters that MacArthur’s services have been of extraordinary value to the country. He will be 64 next January, the usual retirement age.
Tucker, 33, a restaurant worker, shot himself in the chest and remained in critical condition at Wyetington County Hospital. He had previously shot Nellie R. Sell, 28, who died at the hospital Tuesday night. Deputy Sheriff Leister Tsanogle quoted Tucker saying the gun was turned on himself after the shooting.
