Deeds recorded showtransactions including Ralph D. Four selling to Ralph F. Wachter at 233 East Second Street for about 16 000 and Clarence D. Ausherman selling land to Edward J. Wetzel for around 9 500 with improvements and a former road name noted.

Frankenstein image of Senate power grows in McCarthy clash
In Washington several Senators see they have created a Frankenstein monster through the McCarthy dispute with the Army. The piece argues executive branches could use charges to curb a Senator, risking a move toward a Senate subservient to the executive, unless decided by rail-call vote.

Reasons for Layoffs Given by Roger Babson
Roger W Babson argues unemployment is misread. He cites population growth, more older workers, and more women employed as factors, plus automation and self service stores reducing clerical jobs. He predicts 1954 can be fair with wage and hour adjustments, but sees no permanent solution, and notes a cycle between labor and employers.
