He received two years in the House of Correction after a jury convicted him in March. required to pay 25 dollars weekly for three years and released on 1000 dollars personal recognizance. His wife alleged no payments, revolver taken, pocketbook rifled, and that he boasted of nonpayment. Simons claimed income of 203 to 210 dollars monthly and said he paid back bills from a furlough. He rejected a private conference and was sentenced when he refused to comply. The jury also heard a separate assault charge in which he was acquitted.
