Maryland Legislature Expands Horse Racing Days

Maj. Gen. Milton A. Reckord of Havre de Grace calls the legislature’s approval of more Maryland horse racing a serious mistake. Three bills would grant Laurel and Bowie 10 more days each, add days for five half mile tracks to 100 total, and raise harness racing from 60 to 100 days, with Pimlico and Laurel consolidation rejected. Reckord argues races should be equitably distributed and urges Governor Lane to veto all three measures.
