Pennsylvania teen runs up Ocean City spending spree
A 15-year-old runaway from Pittsburgh carried 74,000 cash in a cardboard box and spent 800 a day on a stretch limousine in Ocean City before police intervened. He left 53,238 when caught at a go cart track after dining and shopping with companions, including Eric Faulkner, 20, who was arrested for taking 2,500 of the money. The spree ended when authorities tracked the boy, who was returned to his mother, and Faulkner remained jailed on a 5,000 cash bond.

Legislature resolves flap over truck flippers
Maryland lawmakers clarified that a flipper is not a safety device and cannot be load bearing. The 18 inch track attached to rear of 65 foot car carriers drew fines up to 500 dollars as police tickets hit carriers along I 70. Courts split on ruling with Frederick County upholding a fine while others favored the carrier. The legislature defined the flipper as illegal load bearing and sought federal relief as trucks longer than 65 feet face legal limits.

Mount Airy mayor sued for slander by developer
A land developer, James M. Frey of Mount Airy, filed a multi million dollar slander suit Monday in Frederick County Circuit Court against Mayor Linda R. Boyer alleging willful malicious acts. The suit claims Boyer stated Frey shouted profanities at a Mount Airy Town Council meeting and was expelled from public forums, published to a third party with malice.
