NHTSA Probes Ford Ignition Switch Fires Across 1984 1993 Models
U S safety officials examine fires from a shared ignition switch in about 23.5 million Ford Mercury and Lincoln vehicles from 1984 to 1993, excluding Taurus Sable and Probe. With 820+ U S reports and one parked vehicle fire, Ford says data does not yet warrant a recall in the United States while Canada already recalled 248,000 units. A class action seeks replacement of switches at Ford's expense.
