Temperatures colder in Maryland mountains. Through April 23–27, highs in 70s, lows 40s to 50s, precipitation below normal. or warmer Monday and Tuesday.

Bridge standoff ends with officer suicide over arrest

A 26 year old probationary officer Herbert Ivy killed himself on an Interstate 70 bridge after a two hour standoff with officers who sought to arrest him on sexual assault sodomy kidnapping and armed criminal action charges. Ivy stripped to his underwear before firing a pistol shot into his head as police restrained traffic and negotiated. No injuries occurred to motorists.
