County Jail Now Classed Most Modern In Maryland
Maryland reports Frederick County jail now labeled the most modern in the state after a 1950 inspection and renovations begun in 1948. The jail features separate floors for maximum and minimum security, a dormitory third floor, and facilities including a drunk tank and special segregation rooms. State and county officials praise the work and plan future operation under county authority with a warden model similar to Baltimore and Montgomery. Brunswick lockup in the basement of the police station was also renovated, described as an excellent detention space prior to hearings.
