Volunteer Week Honored at Frederick County Kickoff
Frederick County officials declared Volunteer Week to run alongside the national observance. At the fifth annual Kickoff Breakfast sponsored by State Farm and the Frederick County Volunteer Advisory Board, officials touted the value of volunteers, noting county savings from fire and rescue volunteers and praising recruitment efforts. Dr Tim Wolfe and nine Mount St Marys students described Service Learning, offering tutoring and counseling to suspended middle schoolers at the Friends Meeting House. Shannon Sherrock, a Columbia sophomore, said the course provides hands on learning and she plans to continue volunteering for both her benefit and the students.
