Government Advances Pesticide Research For Pests
Field tests near Blythe California showed cotton treated with Glossyplute suffered 10 percent pink bollworm damage versus 8 percent in untreated plots. Field trials in Arizona and California indicated the pesticide affects only pink bollworm and spares beneficial insects. The Agriculture Department also developed another sex chemical to trap gypsy moths though the EPA has not registered it.
